Since October, initiated by Academic Affairs Office and joined by all the schools, the first teaching observation month has been launched to promote mutual learning and communication among the teachers, which gives full play to the role of excellent teachers in leading, demonstrating and impacting to improve the quality of teaching and talent cultivation.
Excellent courses of 86 model teachers have been selected for the teaching observation month for young teachers and other teachers to help them improve teaching quality. The activity consists of four parts: The first is to organize all teachers, especially new teachers who have worked in the university for about three years to observe the classroom teaching of the outstanding teachers; the second is to invite the outstanding teachers to share teaching experience and display teaching innovation achievements; the third is to invite the president and the teaching supervisor to this activity; the fourth is to call for the teachers to write observation reviews.
From the inspection results of Academic Affairs Office and Teaching Supervision Center, the teachers who provided observation classes this time did well in their teaching preparation, elaboration of the course content with concise language and integration of ideological and political elements of the curriculum. Most teachers could carry out blended teaching by combining Chaoxing Web and Chaoxing APP, which showed gratifying progress of the construction of teaching informatization of our university in recent years. However, there were still deficiencies in the organization and preparation of the teaching work.
The leading role of the outstanding teachers is fully demonstrated through the teaching observation activity, which will promote teaching research and build a platform for teachers to learn from each other. It will also promote the exchange of undergraduate teaching, and improve the teaching ability of young teachers. Through the activity, teachers have enhanced awareness of updating teaching concepts, refining teaching plan design, introducing modern educational techniques, and strengthening ideological and political courses. It is believed that the fruits of these practices will positively influence teaching concept and method, and quality of classroom teaching and talent cultivation in our university.
